Peace and Love

Peace and Love, that's how Ringo Starr has signed off his concerts and messages for years. Sometimes we find it all around us, sometimes not so much, but why? Why isn't Peace and Love a full time experience for us?
Think about your day. You may start all blissed out; the sunrise is fantastic, your dreams were sweet, just waking up seems so organic. If you are like many people one of the next things you do is fire up your device and scroll through the myriad of messages there. Many of these messages are written to intentionally make you react. Right away you are on the defensive. Now that bliss starts to crumble. Maybe a cute kitten video restores you but right behind the kitty is something that puts you back on your heels again. Then you switch over to another platform where you discover someone doing something, well, just stupid. There goes that bliss right out the window.
I think it's time we put our own emotional well-being ahead of "being informed." So many people who are posting don't have your emotional well-being at heart. They have their own agenda. Then it's time to head for work and we know driving is comforting! Well, maybe not so comforting after all. Maybe your work does bring you joy, most of the time. What about those times it doesn't bring you joy? Do you still have Peace and Love surrounding you?
Now stop for a moment and consider this; if you find yourself in a downward energy spiral it is you, and only you, who can stop that spiral! Disconnect from the distractions of your day by taking on a new mental perspective. We cannot keep all the disruptive influences away but we certainly can change our view about them. Don't have time to meditate away the goo? How about a couple deep breaths to clear your heart? You have that power.
If we let the disruptive influences of our lives take over we will spread that disruptive energy around like Halloween treats. Since we began this message with a Beatle's message, how about ending it the same way? John Lennon told us, "The love you take is equal to the love you make." Love is in plentiful supply all around us. Love is the power of the Universe. Want peace and love in your life? Spread it around!

Terrie
