The power of Affirmations

The power of affirmations can, if used incorrectly, lead us down a path we don't necessarily want to take. Even if you have studied affirmations and intentions for many years it's easy to go off on a tangent. No doubt that is why Ashtar decided we all should take a refresher course in the power of each of these tools. And that's just what they are; tools.

It is my intention that as you watch this week's video with Ashtar that you will clarify for yourself which tool is the most powerful in any given situation. It is my affirmation in learning which tool is the most powerful in any given situation your life will become easier.

There is a tendency, among some people, to use these tools as if they are the same thing, so let me share a story with you. The past few days my husband and I were in Las Vegas, Nevada. This, of course, offered us the opportunity to play slot machines. When I sat down at a slot machine it was my intention to have fun and maybe take a few more dollars out of the machines than I put in. As the games played I was having fun. When they did pay off my intentions were met beautifully. So far, so good.

When my affirmation was that I was taking more out of the machine than I was putting in but the coin count kept declining I was not living my affirmation. If I tried to tell myself I was getting more out than I was putting in I would be lying to myself. Lying to myself inevitably results in the same thing as lying to another person; I begin to doubt my own word. As Don Miguel Ruiz reminded us so well; be impeccable with your word, especially to oneself. So, what's a girl to do? Reconsider my affirmation! I would affirm that no matter what was happening with my coin count, I was having fun then look for a machine which would pay off.

The moral of this story is to be aware at all times what we are thinking and saying. To use both intentions and affirmations in the appropriate manner at the appropriate time. That's what Ashtar will be speaking about this week in his video.
