Where is my heart?

So, where is my heart? Is it open or closed? Is there room for another person? Love doesn't come from the outside, it is always an inside job.

I have had lots of discussions with people who point to the Walk for Peace event which captured the world's attention. Often one of the comments in these discussions is how much love these beloved Monks awakened within people. Awakened is the key phrase here. The love has always been there. You are created by Love, as Love, to Love, If you are not feeling love there is a good chance the answer to the question, Where is my Heart is that it is closed. You know I don't deal in blame, either toward ourselves or toward others, but there is a reason your heart might be closed if indeed it is.

No matter where you are in life there have been times when it seemed you couldn't find your heart anywhere. Where is your heart? It may have been closed by trauma, childhood experiences, or even adult experiences. But what we want to remember is that it can be opened again.

Life is not a point A to point Z experience. I think of it more as a spiral ever reaching upward. We might be merrily cruising along giving and accepting love when suddenly we find ourselves closed-off. Suddenly everything seems to freeze. You are not doing anything wrong, it's just that you have ascended the spiral to the point where you need to examine a lesson. This lesson had been learned at the lower level of the spiral but you have grown, expanded and now maybe there is something to clear up, to heal. If you find yourself in this situation, ignore the call to blame yourself or someone else. It's just a moment along the upward spiral; an invitation to release something.
