Self care/self love

Ashtar has been encouraging us for the past few weeks to honor our winter hibernation and self care/self love is part of that honoring. What this period of hibernation is not is an invitation to be a couch potato!

The natural winter break allows us to restock our supply of compassion and empathy for others as well as ourselves. It is an invitation to regroup. Being a conscious, loving person is its own reward, certainly, but still it takes a toll on us. Think of compassion and empathy as a muscle in your body. Working it out is good and very good but you don't work a muscle seven days a week, twenty four hours a day. We build in a period of recuperation. Too often we view this period of recuperation as selfishness. The reality is that if we give too much at our own expense there is nothing left to give others. That's why we are hard-wired to rest.

To be as conscious of our own well-being as that of others means the well of empathy and compassion does not go dry. The well of The Universe does not go dry but we are physical beings. You don't have to withdraw from spreading love and joy wherever you go, just make sure when you are sprinkling that love around you to take time to sprinkle a little on yourself as well.

What will bring you joy, recharge you? Might it be a quiet soak in the tub? Maybe a walk in the woods or along the seashore? Even these seemingly little things go a long way to recharging your batteries. Keeping an eye on what you want in your life and working in that direction can be just as powerful as a week in meditation. In short, be kind to yourself.

Many Blessings of Universal Love,

Terrie
