The Matriarch

Mothers Day is approching; are you thinking about what to gift the Matriarch in your life? I hear you! How many angst laden hours did I spend trying to think of the perfect gift for the woman who brought me into this world. If you are gifted with still having your Matriarch physically present in your life there is one gift that fits all and Ashtar will share it with you in this week's video and Spiritual Intention.

This concept of Martiarchy is very layered. We easily recognize that our Mother is the focal point of this annual observance. After all, it was she who physically gave birth to us. Are we forgetting that her Mother, and her Mother's mother, back beyond time also, by default, are responsible for our being here?

As we consider the role of Mother, is it restricted to the woman who gave us birth, or might it just as well include all the feminine influences we encountered throughout our lives? And while we are splitting hairs, is the feminine influence strictly defined by gender? Just for fun maybe you could list feminine traits. What might those traits be? Love, caring, protection, nurturing, support, teaching? Your list will differ from mine, and that's great. That's as it should be. Now consider all the people in your life who have shown you those traits. Might you have also been gifted these traits by people who were not your birth mother? Might some of them not even been female?

In no way am I suggesting we not honor our Mothers. Far from it. The love I had (and still have) for my Mother is beyond measure. It would bring me undending joy to send her a gift. Yet some of us have never had a close relationship with our birth mothers. We may have lost her early in life. Maybe circumstances evolved which resulted in a rift between you. There are so many variables to consider. That's why I love Ashtar's approach to Mothers Day in honoring the Matriarch. I think he gives us permission to honor any figure who has provided us love, support, protection, teaching or whatever you have on your list. His approach broadens the concept of Mothers Day.

As we go through this week leading up to our official celebration of Mothers I invite you to reexamine what constitues Motherhood. Male or female, perhaps you will expand the recognition of the Matriarch in your life. There is no right or wrong answer to this question. If you recall Ashtar's definition of a Spiritual Principle; a Spiritual Principle is any principle which aligns us more closely with love, and love is the dominate vibration in our Universe.

And as for that perfect gift? I will defer to one so much wiser than I to share it with you. I wish you joy in your contemplation.

Many Blessings of Universal Love,

Terrie
