Where is HOme?

Pliny the Elder, a Roman Statesman and scholar, wrote that home is where the heart is. Robert Frost wrote that when you have to go there, home is where they have to take you in. So many words have been written about home and what it is. What we do know for certain is that home is not a physical location, it is far greater than that.

I think about returning to a hotel on Maui last summer that my husband, Brian, had considered his home away from home. It was the same name, same physical structure, same uniforms and rooms, but there was something missing as we visited this beautiful hotel. You see, the ownership had changed. Even though they kept most of the surface things the same there was something missing. It took some time to identify why it no longer felt like home to him. After discussing it we realized that what was missing was love.

Perhaps Pliny the Elder was closer to my idea of home. When you think of home, what does it mean to you? Has the location of home changed for you over the years? Probably. Have the people who represent home changed? Most likely. What is the common denominator when you think of home? Does home represent any specific people or places? This week I am not going to try to define home for you. I know for myself that my idea of home has changed many times over the years.

I think of Japan as one of my homes because of the love I feel when I am there. This love does not come from a physical location, it's more of feeling a connection. I also felt at home when I was on my pilgrimage to Delphi last year. Ironically the feeling of home did not come from the archeologial site where I was once one of the Oracles, but from a village located a few miles away. Have you ever felt that change of perception?

At this moment, subject to re-evualation, I would have to say that for me home is where I find love.

Last year we also visited a town in Greece named Thessaloniki. As we strolled the streets of this ancient city I felt very much at home. I didn't know a single person there but I still felt at home. This leads me to the understanding that location is not the indicator of home, it must be something else. In his video this week Ashtar speaks of where home is. His suggestion is that it is the feminine energy which calls to us, calls us home.

It is important to remember that feminine energy is not gender specific. Each of us has both feminine and masculine energies regardless of our gender. This is one of our greatest assets. You see, there are times to call upon the nurturing feminine energy and times to call upon the masculine array of energies as well.

As you watch this weeks video and Spiritual Principle let your preconceived notions of home take a break. Consider for yourself what it is that makes home for you.

Many blessings of Universal Love,

Terrie
